IOZK presentation by Stefaan Van Gool: Immunotherapy for diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), at the annual meeting of the Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO) in San Francisco

Stefaan Van Gool gave a talk on the multimodal immunotherapy in diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), a brain tumour occurring in children, at the annual meeting of the Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO) in San Francisco. The SNO is a multidisciplinary organization with a focus on advancing neuro-oncology through research and education.

Combination was the key word at this year’s function, e.g., between targeted therapies or between radiation and chemotherapy. Different combination options were also judged as gaining more importance in immune therapies: oncolytic viruses can be combined with dendritic cells vaccines or checkpoint inhibitors – or all three can be combined. The IOZK has already specialized in this approach in its compassionate use treatments.
