Stefaan Van Gool moves from the University of Leuven to the IOZK
The internationally recognized immunologist has been researching and working at the University of Leuven in Belgium for 20 years. His particular areas of focus are
- Pediatric neuro-oncology and histiocytic disorders
- Tumor immunology: Preclinical research and clinical trials in the field of brain tumors
- Long-term and late effects of chemotherapy
A key reason for the move to IOZK was the manufacturing license granted in May for the first autologous anti-tumor vaccine. "I am delighted to continue working in my current field. The manufacturing license now makes it much easier to make this therapy available to patients. At the same time, I see that exciting new developments in preclinical research can be translated into clinical application with the help of the forward-looking IOZK team and its network," says Stefaan van Gool.
