IOZK lecture by Stefaan Van Gool: IOZK Immunotherapy for DIPG Ponsglioma, Society for Neuro-Oncology Conference, San Francisco
Stefaan Van Gool presented multimodal immunotherapy for DIPG (pons glioma), a brain tumor that occurs primarily in children, at the Society for Neuro-Oncology conference in San Francisco, or SNO for short. SNO is a multidisciplinary organization that focuses on advancing neuro-oncology through research and education.
Combination was the key word at this year's top-class event, whether with targeted therapies or between radiotherapy and chemotherapy, for example. In immunotherapy, the various combination options are also becoming increasingly important: oncolytic viruses can be combined with dendritic cell vaccines or with checkpoint inhibitors - or all three together. The IOZK already specializes in this approach, which is implemented in the context of individual treatment trials.
