IOZK Lecture by Stefaan Van Gool: IOZK Immunotherapy for DIPG Pons Glioma, Conference of the Society for Neuro-Oncology, San Francisco
At the Society for Neuro-Oncology(SNO) conference in San Francisco, Stefaan Van Gool presented multimodal immunotherapy for DIPG (pontine glioma), a brain tumor that primarily affects children. SNO is a multidisciplinary organization that focuses on advancing neuro-oncology through research and education.
Combination was the keyword at this year's high-profile event, whether in terms of targeted therapies or between radiation therapy and chemotherapy. In immunotherapy, too, the various combination options are considered increasingly important: oncolytic viruses can be combined with dendritic cell vaccines or with checkpoint inhibitors – or all three together. The IOZK already specializes in this approach, which is implemented as part of individual treatment trials.
