Liquid biopsy: Symposium on Liquid Biopsies & Cancer, Leuven Cancer Institute
From August 28 to 30, the Leuven Cancer Institute hosted a symposium on liquid biopsies and cancer, where numerous experts gathered to exchange ideas. Liquid biopsy is still a relatively new discipline. Since cancer cells in the bloodstream secrete DNA components, this new technology allows tumor DNA to be determined from a blood sample. This provides insights into the course of the disease, for example, and spares patients the otherwise common and risky tissue sampling procedure. The IZOK uses liquid biopsy for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in IOZK immunotherapy.
