Liquid Biopsy: Symposium on Liquid Biopsies & Cancer, Leuven Cancer Institute

A symposium on liquid biopsies and cancer was held at the Leuven Cancer Institute from August 28 to 30, where numerous experts met to exchange ideas. Liquid biopsy is still a relatively young discipline. As cancer cells secrete components of DNA in the bloodstream, this new technology can be used to determine tumor DNA through a blood sample. This makes it possible, for example, to gain insights into the course of the disease and spares patients the otherwise risky tissue removal procedure. The IZOK uses liquid biopsy for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in IOZK immunotherapy.
