Courier transport from a tissue bank / tissue archive

Important Information on the Transport of Tumor Specimens

Shipping is handled by World Courier in coordination with the IOZK Logistics Department.

The exact pickup time and location must now be communicated via email by the person in charge at the facility storing the tumor samples to the IOZK Logistics Department.

The IOZK then ensures that World Courier provides a shipping container filled with dry ice and carries out the shipment in a standardized manner.

Immediately after removal, the tumor material was packed in a sterile container labeled with the patient's name and date of birth and either frozen at -80°C or stored on dry ice. No liquids were added!

No liquids, such as formalin or DMSO

The person in charge hands the labeled container with the tumor tissue, the signed training sheet, and the completed fact sheet to the courier.

Send an email to the IOZK Logistics Department and work with us to arrange the transport of your tumor samples.

– Address and pickup location at the facility( building, department, floor, etc.)
– Contact person at the facility
– Contact person’s phone number and email address
– Pickup date and time (if known)

These details are essential to ensure reliable transportation.

2. Fill out the consent form

Please sign the consent form for tumor collection and shipment. By signing this form, you authorize the facility storing your tumor to ship your tumor specimen to the IOZK.

3. Coordination with the facility treating the tumor

Explain to the person in charge at the storage facility just how important their cooperation is to you!
Let them know that, in accordance with your wishes, the existing cryopreserved tumor material should be made available to the IOZK.
It is very important that the tumor material be shipped in a standardized manner and strictly in accordance with the IOZK’s guidelines.

Please explain the route World Courir will use for the shipment.

Unless the material is shipped in accordance with IOZK specifications, it cannot be used in the manufacture of your drug!

Your signed consent form

Please inform the facility that the fact sheet must be completed, the training sheet signed, and both sent to the IOZK along with the tumor specimen.
Your informed consent form will remain with the facility storing the tumor specimen.
